The Chaperon family had the château built in the Directoire style at the entry to Pomerol village, in Libourne. Written records trace the estate back to the early 19th century, notably an 1868 edition of "Cocks & Féret". Château La Pointe is classed amongst the "Premiers" beside Château Clinet, La Conseillante and L'Evangile. At that time the vineyard was already 23 Ha, planted on sometimes gravelly, clay-gravel and sandy soils, or pure gravel soils. Château La Pointe then passed into the Arfeuille family for 3 generations and was next purchased by the Generali insurance company. The estate would be modernised and improved, with guidance from director Éric Monneret. Since 2008, Éric has been advised by oenologist Hubert de Boüard, co-owner of world-renowned Château Angélus.

    Tasting notes

The tasty, intense nose opens on aromas of well-ripened black and red fruit lifted with gentle spices and a touch of menthol. It is round and velvety on the palate. The silky texture is imbued with fine, ripe tannins and the whole is balanced by a fresh, elegant finish.
