The Bordeaux archives mention a certain Ramon Carbonnieu, owner of vines at Léognan, in 1234. It was sold a number of times over the years. Marc Perrin, the first in this family that still owns the estate, worked on the restoration of the castle and its vineyards in 1956. Today, Eric, Christine and Philibert Perrin manage the 170 ha vineyard at Léognan, south of Bordeaux. For over 700 years, the vines have spread over an outcrop of gravel on a clay-limestone subsoil. La Croix de Carbonnieux is the second wine of Château Carbonnieux, a Graves Cru Classé.

    Tasting notes

La Croix de Carbonnieux wines pay homage to the Benedictine monks of Saint Croix de Bordeaux Abbey, owners from the 13th to the 18th century. The bouquet opens with a variety of red and black fruits - blackcurrant, cherry and raspberry - and is lifted by smoky, roasted aromas and the subtle notes of mild tobacco. Elegantly balanced on the palate, supported by delicate tannins, with a gentle aroma of fruit at the finish.

    Contains SULPHITES.
