Alphonse Gros, native of the region, settled at Vosne Romanée in 1830. He chose this house which, during the revolution of 1789, was refuge to Dom Trouvé the Abbot of Cîteaux Abbey. Several years later he bought the Clos des Reas parcel. This monopoly is today one of the jewels of the estate. Several generations of this dynasty of wine-makers would succeed to this estate. Today, Michel GROS, 6th of that name, perpetuates the tradition. So does his sister (Domain AF Gros), his brother (Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur) and his cousin (Domaine Anne Gros). The vineyard has grown, little by little, over the years and today covers 23 Ha in the Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, Clos de Vougeot, Bourgogne and Bourgogne Hautes Côte de Nuits appellations.

    Tasting notes

This wine comes from vines grown at altitude, on a south-west facing hillside in Arcenant. The juicy, tasty nose opens on aromas of cherry and strawberry marmalade. Fine woody notes blend harmoniously. It is full bodied on the palate. The supple texture comes from ripe, well-integrated and light tannins, extending to a long, lively finish.
