The estate has been known of since 1874 and is situated on the upper part of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, not far from the town of Pomerol in the Bordeaux region. 14 Ha now spreads over a gravel soil on clay and ferruginous sandstone subsoil, just metres from the legendary Château Pétrus. In 1988, Jean-Claude Beton, inventor of the famous little round Orangina bottle, bought Château Grand Ormeau. He gave his all to perfecting his style to produce great wines. So he surrounded himself with the best, like celebrated oenologist Michel Rolland. On 1 January 2008, Françoise Beton, following an important career with the Orangina group, took over the management of the estate from her father.

    Tasting notes

This vintage is the second wine of the estate. It comes from a 2-ha parcel of young vines, vinified in the same way as the estate's great wine. The nose is full-bodied and elegant, opening on red and black fruits like prune, blackberry and stewed cherry. These blend with delicate touches of nutmeg and black pepper. It is round and delicious on the palate, with lovely ripe tannins and good length.
