Vintage 2002 Plénitude 2
Dom Pérignon evolves through a succession of plateaus which define windows of expression known as Plenitudes. Dom Pérignon’s Second Plenitude, P2, is the result of 16 years’ work; extra time on the yeast lees that magnifies the champagne.
2002. A vintage to last forever. The winter slips by in softness, prelude to a hot, dry spring. The flowering is perfect. July ticks by in sunny days, punctuated by some beneficial rains which, suddenly, multiply in August. Autumn is feared. But September sweeps in hot and light, with wind to accelerate the concentration of berries, particularly the Chardonnays. This confers a superlative maturity, signature of this vintage. Since the beginning of the millennium, maturation on lees has continued to be active. Slowly, the wine pursues its metamorphoses. Its energy intensifies, stretches. Opulence becomes airy. The envelope deploys, to achieve plenitude. It reveals the mystery of radiant gold: that of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2002 Plenitude 2.
