Thomas-Michel Lynch took possession of the estate in 1749 by the intermediary of his wife Elisabeth Drouillard, daughter of the Jurat of Bordeaux and a wine merchant. It would, over the years, change owner several times. In 1939, the fifth Grand Cru Classé de Pauillac was bought by Jean-Charles Cazes, who worked as a farmer on the estate. Under the management of the Cazes family, the Château Lynch-Bages vineyard extends considerably over the Bages plateau, in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, in eastern Bordeaux. Jean-Charles Cazes took over from his father in 2007. Created for the first time in 1976 under the name of Château Haut-Bages Averous, this second wine changed its name to become Echo de Lynch-Bages in 2008.
